Purpose: To encourage new teachers to remain in the profession. Recipients of this award must have made significant contributions toward innovative, unique and novel programs and have shown a professional commitment early in their careers. (Candidates must be new to the teaching profession, not just new to vocational-technical education.

Eligibility:

• Full time classroom/laboratory teachers in a vocational-technical education program in a high school setting.
• Must have taught for a minimum of three but not more than five years. (Applicants may be in their sixth year of teaching at the time of application)
• Nominees must be teachers at the time of selection as a regional winner.
• Must have been a member of ACTE and THOA for the past three consecutive years.
• Nominees should have been involved in some capacity in ACTE activities at the local and/or state level.

Each area will nominate one Outstanding New Teacher. The nominee will be interviewed by the THOA, Inc. Executive Board at the summer Professional Improvement Conference.

The THOA President-Elect will be the contact person for obtaining the current application.

All materials required by the application will be due at the ACTE headquarters by mid September.
