Forensic Science (often shortened to forensics) is the use of a science from different fields to answer questions for the legal system. It may be in relation to a crime or to divorce or custody hearings. The term comes from the
Latin word “forensis” which means forum. During ancient Rome, if a person was accused of a crime, both sides would appear in court and tell their side of the story. The best argument , or person with the best forensic skills, usually won. Today the term takes on more of a scientific meaning of securing evidence for use in solving a crime or other legal questions.
